CARIBBEAN STUD POKER

This game is played on blackjack table. It’s more often played online.

You will need…

A normal 52-card deck is what you need to play this game.  The game is played by 5 to 7 players. The betting here starts from $2 - $4 for beginners while a regular player will choose to play a higher game which starts from $8-$16 or a still higher game can be $10 -$20.

How to deal?

This is a unique type of poker game where players are impersonating against the dealer.

How to play?

The game begins with the round of ante. The dealer distributes five cards (face down) to all the players including him except dealer’s fifth card, which is revealed to the player. After which another round of betting starts with betting higher than ante. Dealer now reveals his hand. If his hand has ace or king he can challenge the player or else he has to quit the game and the gamble is returned to the player. But if the case is reversed that is, if the player has ace or king, then players are asked to open their card. The one with higher cards/ sequence gets the pot. However the ratio for ante remains 1:1 irrespective of ranking.

And the winner is…

If the player has the hand that qualifies, then he is allowed to play for the jackpot and the player wins according to his hand. That is if the player has royal flush then is allowed to take 100% of the jackpot. If he has straight flush then he is allowed to carry back only 10% of the jackpot. But if he has four of a kind, full house or flushes then he is only paid $100, $75, and $50 respectively.

Tactics of winning…

Some common mistakes that players make while playing Caribbean Stud Poker are as follows:

  • Generally if a player has fair below 5 they refuse to play and fold. But this is one of the biggest mistakes a player can make. Because studies by experts show that 44% of the time dealer’s game isn’t even qualifying. 06.08% time’s dealer will have ace, king and other cards, which are unpaired. So now your chances of winning are 50.08%
  • There is a notion that if player doesn’t have pair, then dealer will also not have a pair. So the player tends to bet higher on king and ace. Whereas dealer might simply win with a lower pair.
  • You should not bet high on A, Q, J, 10,9 (unsuited) because they may seem to appear good cards but they are off scouring.
  • Do not try and bluff against the dealer.
