DOUBLE DRAW

Double draw is somewhat similar to 5-card draw. However this game is more popular than 5 card draw because there are more betting round involved.

You will need…

A standard 52-card deck is used to play this game.  Best played by 2 to 8 players. The betting here starts from $2 - $4 for beginners while a regular player will choose to play a higher game which starts from $8-$16 or a still higher game can be $10 -$20.

How to deal?

The dealer distributes five cards (faced own) to each player starting from the left.

How to play?

After the dealer distributes five cards to each player, betting round begins. The remaining player in second round can exchange, all, some or none cards. This is called draw. Another betting round begins. After all the players have finished betting, there is another round of draw and betting. Followed by a showdown.

And the winner is…

The dealer declares the player with the best hand during showdown as winner.

Tactics of winning…

• Mostly all the players are trying to make three of a kind. But if you see a player drawing only one card then, mostly he is trying for flushes, straight or full house.
• If you are sitting with the players known to you then, the best way you can carry the pot home is, raise your bet in the first round, then do not draw any card and raise the bet again.
• You can also use this strategy if you are known to bet only when you have a good hand.
• You can draw only one card and feign that you have got the card you needed. A good player always adjusts the game according to the ante.
• If you do not have a good hand then you should give up. Betting also depends on your position. If you are the first one to bet it is much tougher. In this case you should bet loosely in the first round, and in second round, if you have a decent hand then you could raise the bet.
• However, if you are the lucky one who gets to bet at the end and to add to it, you have a fairly decent hand then you can raise your bet in first round itself.
• Double draw gives you another opportunity to players to raise their bet. Be careful and observe others while they make bet after second draw.
• If a player doesn’t draw any card the second time then be sure that he has the best or satisfactory hand to win the pot.
